MESSAGES
Message from the University of Pretoria
It is with great excitement and honour that I welcome you to the IFIP TC3 World Conference on Computers in Education (WCCE) 2026, to be held in one of the most iconic and inspiring locations in South Africa, the Kruger National Park. Under the theme “Learnnected: Empowering Education in a Connected World”, this conference aims to spark meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and innovation across global education communities.
As the host institution, the University of Pretoria is proud to lead this initiative, offering a space not only for rigorous academic exchange but also for immersive engagement with nature and culture. Our theme reflects the urgent need to rethink how we teach, learn, and lead in a hyper-connected world, and invites us to explore how digital technologies can empower inclusive, sustainable, and contextually relevant education.
Whether you are a teacher, researcher, policymaker, technologist, or educational leader, I encourage you to bring your voice, your questions, and your experiences to the conversation. Better yet, submit a paper and join us in shaping the future of connected learning.
My heartfelt thanks go to the Local Organising Committee (LOC), the International Programme Committee (IPC), and our many supporters who are working behind the scenes to make this event possible. Your commitment, expertise, and generosity of spirit make WCCE 2026 not just a conference but a truly transformational experience.
We look forward to welcoming you to South Africa. Let us be inspired – together.

Message from the IFIP TC3 Chair
Dear participant,
IFIP TC3 conferences seek to inspire and stimulate – and what better ways to inspire and stimulate than the place and the topic! This year, in 2026, thanks to the University of Pretoria, and the wonderful lead taken by Prof Riana Steyn, the National Representative for South Africa to IFIP TC3. We will hold the IFIP TC3 WCCE 2026 conference in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. The topic of the conference will be ‘Learnnected: Empowering Education in a Connected World’.
The conference will provide opportunities to meet in a wonderful location, so that we can share and discuss our respective focuses and concerns on a particularly important topic. We all seek to manage education in a connected world, whatever our roles are in using digital technologies – whether they be as teachers, researchers, educational advisers, policy makers or parents and guardians. Please come along to the conference, and share your questions – but better still, offer a presentation!
My particular thanks to all who make this conference possible – to our hosts at the University of Pretoria, to the Chair and Members of the Local Organising Committee and to the Co-chairs and Members of the International Programme Committee of the conference. Conferences do not happen without dedication, support and commitment of so many people, both organising locally and at a distance. My thanks go out to everyone so generously providing their time and expertise.
I look forward to seeing you in the Kruger National Park in October 2026!
